Sheila Ridner, PhD, RN, FAAN

Sheila Ridner, Ph.D., is a research professor and professor of nursing, emerita, at Vanderbilt University. An internationally recognized lymphedema expert, Ridner focuses on the study and development of potential treatments for early lymphedema detection and self-care in patients with and without cancer. Her twenty-plus years’ work has led to practice and policy changes in lymphedema prevention, measurement, and treatment worldwide. Ridner has published more than 115 manuscripts and book chapters and has secured nearly $15 million for lymphatic research. She was named the Martha Rivers Ingram Professor of Nursing at Vanderbilt in 2013. Ridner is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and was inducted into the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame in 2017. She holds a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University, where she also completed a postdoctoral oncology fellowship. She earned an MSN from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, an MHSA from College of St. Francis, and a BSN from the University of Kentucky.
