Bradley W. Buchanan

Brad Buchanan’s writings have appeared in more than 200 journals, and he has also published four book-length collections of poetry, most recently Chimera (Finishing Line Press, 2022). He has also published a medical memoir: Living with Graft-Versus-Host Disease: How I Stopped Fighting Cancer and Started Healing (Armin Lear Press, 2021) and three scholarly books. Emeritus Professor of English at Sacramento State University, he was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma in February 2015, and underwent a stem cell transplant in 2016, which entailed a lengthy recovery from graft-versus-host disease and temporary vision loss. He is currently in remission. These days he writes and facilitates Writing As Healing Zoom workshops through the UC Davis Cancer Center and the Sacramento Society for the Blind.
