About Onco'Zine, ADC Review and The Onco'Zine Brief

Onco'Zine, The International Oncology Network (ISSN 2168-5339), has covered cancer research and care since 2001. Its sister publication, ADC Review | Journal of Antibody-Drug Conjugates, and our radio program and podcast, The Onco'Zine Brief, share the same purpose. We want to help the people who treat cancer understand what a new study, approval or trial result actually means, and what it could change for their patients.

What we cover

We report on the research, findings and announcements we believe will change how cancer is treated in the United States and beyond. That includes clinical trial results, regulatory decisions, basic and translational science, health policy, and the economics of drug development. Our reporters and editors bring backgrounds in both oncology and journalism. They take the time to understand the science before they write about it.

How we report

We try to go further than the headline. When a company announces that a trial met its endpoint, we look for the numbers behind the announcement. We check claims against the peer-reviewed literature and public trial registries, and we say plainly what has not yet been shown. Press releases are where a story begins, not where it ends. When an important claim rests on a single source, we tell readers so. When the evidence is incomplete or contested, we leave that tension in the story rather than smoothing it over. Every article is fact-checked by our editors before it is published.

Onco'Zine, ADC Review and The Onco'Zine Brief are editorially independent. Advertisers, sponsors, underwriters and individual supporters have no say in what we cover or how we cover it. We do not endorse any treatment, product or service.

At the meetings

Much of our reporting starts at the scientific meetings where new data are first presented. Each year our correspondents in the United States, Canada and Europe attend roughly 20 to 25 oncology and hematology meetings, usually with two or three writers at each. They talk with the researchers, clinicians, and industry and government figures whose work is changing practice. Experienced freelance journalists extend that coverage, so readers get complete reporting and balanced analysis. You'll find it all under Conference Coverage.

What we publish

Onco'Zine publishes news, feature articles, expert interviews, editorials and conference coverage. It also runs The Onco'Zine Dossier, a series of in-depth reports on a single subject, from the history of thalidomide to fifty years of smoking and health. We also keep a running record of oncology and hematology drug approvals.

ADC Review | Journal of Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ISSN 2327-0152), launched in 2013, is devoted to antibody-drug conjugates and the science around them. That science includes bispecific antibodies, site-specific conjugates, small molecule drug conjugates and engineered antibody fragments. Its readers work across academia, pharma and biotech, clinical practice, regulatory affairs, payers and policy. Alongside peer-reviewed research, commentary and news, it offers ADC University, a knowledge center for readers new to the field, and an ADC drug map.

The Journal of CAR T-Cell Therapy covers the development and clinical use of CAR T-cell therapies and accepts manuscript submissions.

Changing Strategies in the War on Cancer is our video program on how cancer care is changing.

The Oncology Directory and the ADC Directory are member-driven companions to our publications. Practices, experts and companies working in cancer research, diagnostics, care and ADC development can use them to share articles, videos, events, products and career opportunities.

The Onco'Zine Brief

The Onco'Zine Brief is our weekly radio program and podcast, hosted by Peter Hofland. It began as an independent program developed for public radio and now runs to more than 100 episodes. Each episode invites researchers, clinicians, industry representatives, regulators, patient advocates, and patients and survivors to talk through the developments that matter. The program also carries round tables and interviews recorded at oncology and hematology meetings.

The Brief is distributed through PRX (Public Radio Exchange) and airs on UK Health Radio in the United Kingdom. It is also available on Spreaker, iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Audible, YouTube and other major platforms.

Most of what we publish is technical and written for healthcare professionals. If you are a patient or caregiver, you are welcome here. Please look for content marked as patient information, such as our frequently asked questions about cancer, and talk with your doctor about how anything you read applies to you. Nothing on this site replaces the advice of your own care team.

Onco'Zine is a National Cancer Institute content distribution partner and carries regularly updated NCI content. Where it matters, pages with medical information show the date they were last updated.
